What do you do when you paint a custom work and then the customer doesn't like the finished result?
This giraffe I posted earlier today is what I'm talking about- jadasartvision.deviantart.com/… I told her I could do any animal in a realistic style. And she had seen all my other paintings and she knew what my style was like. She told me she wanted a giraffe done and I told her to send me a photograph of the giraffe she wanted done. Instead she sends me a painting with a sort of colorful impressionst-like style. I told her it would look a little different but she said it was fine. And now she doesn't like it and even asked if I could redo it! I should have said no from the get-go when she sent me another artist's work but I thought I could combine the 2 styles in a way she would love! I spent about 3 hours on that giraffe. Now what!!!?

Cleaning Up my dA + Rant about Life
Hello everyone! Sorry I have been away for awhile. I will be posting a lot of new work soon, but first I will be cleaning out my dA account and deleting a good majority of my old deviants. Many of my deviatations are drawings from when I was in high school and my earliest, bad paintings.
I have been in a bit of a creative funk for several months and at a crossroads in my life. I am almost 24 now and have been going to school for English literature even though my heart is in art. After a lot of failures at selling my art, I decided to try teaching. I didn't want to teach art however due to the fact that I had met so many people who went tha
Upcoming Adult Coloring Pages to Sell on Etsy
Hello!
It's been quite awhile since I work a journal entry or event submitted a new deviation. That's all about to change. I'm putting forth much of my time and effort into creating new art.
Right now I'm focusing on creating adult coloring pages to sell on Etsy. I have a few designs ready, however I still need to get them scanned and put on Etsy; I'm waiting till have several designs put up. I plan on selling the coloring pages as printable downloads in sets of 4 for a dollar. Or would you guys prefer I sell them individually? Or perhaps both? Any feedback would be awesome :)
Most of the designs will be recreations of earlier drawing
Need A Cool Name For A Tshirt Brand!!!
Hey any ideas for a tshirt name would be awesome! I've been working on black ink drawings that I'm gonna get printed on shirts. The first design will be of a Lionfish. Then probably an octopus. All my designs will be beach and coastal themed.
Please leave ideas in the comments!1..
I'm making some changes in my art
Hello, watchers!
It's been awhile since I made a journal entry or even submitted a daily deviation. That's going to change soon. I am currently working on a detailed color pencil drawing. I wanted to inform you all that I'm going to do more work with pencils and much less painting. Also I'm going back to doing fantasy art because that is my true passion. I was painting animals and coastal related things because I thought they would sell and I could try and make some sort of income painting. Well that did not work and I have way too many paintings then I know what to do with now. I have a few on Etsy but that has not helped either. If

Whenever I get a commission I always ask a lot of questions. Just to make sure it's what they want. Like had a horse drawing commission, and she gave me a picture but told me to change the pattern with more white! So I sent her a quick sketch with a new pattern to make sure it was what she wanted, an it all worked out great
It's hard to make a painting with multiples styles, especially if the person commissioning it doesn't tell you much about what they want.
It depends on how different your giraffe is from the picture, did you use different colors? did you change any shapes? What does the person not like about it? then maybe you can go back to the painting and re-do whatever they didn't like.
I also always send WIP's while working on a commission. Just so I know the customer is ALWAYS satisfied. that way if they don't like a WIP I can change it before I'm finished.
I would just ask what they aren't liking about it, and try and change it, if they still don't like it then I guess just leave it be. I they don't want to buy it, then maybe you can re-sell it. But they should pay you anyway for your time and work.
I hope this helped somewhat! And I hope it all works out for you! Good luck!
